John Jastszebski firmly cements his place in the underground elite with a debut EP release on Phil Weeks’ imprint Robsoul Recordings. Having established himself on the Paris DJ circuit becoming resident at Le Tryptique (now Social Club), and providing the soundtrack to the secret backstage parties in Batofar he also regularly graces the decks at the famous Rex Club. John is now recognized as one of the most talented DJ’s, not only in Paris, but also worldwide.
The Set Up EP delivers an insight into the world of late night beats in the French capital and ooze’s sexy sultry head nodding vibes, flavoured with programmed beats and expertly crafted looping and sampling. Lead track The Set Up evokes visions of cult classic cinema through clever samples flavoured with drum builds washed over with sweeping filters giving a disco feel from the off. Looping does what it says on the tin, plus some… a jacking cut with attitude.
La Toureille has all the elements to bring the house down, trippy loops and driving hats make a delicious combination to loose yourself, coming soon to a dark room with lasers. Finally the EP is finished off with Sunday a track sprinkled with jazzy feel good harmonies and laid-back beats.
