Distractions out: Music On. Joss Moog shuts out the noise with a killer return to his spiritual stomping ground Robsoul. He follows up 2018’s ‘Tokyo Night’ with a brand selection of five crucial thumpers.
The title track ‘Music On’ leads from the front. Chunkier than a sumo wrestler in a bubble coat and laced with subtle jazz motifs, it’s the stately, no-messing sound of Joss going back to the foundations he dug with Robsoul when they introduced him to the world in 2006. It’s back by more sterling pedigree house cuts: the cheeky sample funk on ‘More Than A Little Bit’, the dusty jazzy introspection on ‘Little Wonder’, booty-shaking electro boogie on ‘Body Language’ and the piece de resistance ‘Walk On By’ where Joss’s hip-hop roots are just as tangible as his soul’s connection with house music.
Turn it on, don’t ever turn off; Moog is back on Robsoul and the summer just started to sound 10 times hotter.
