Destination Madrid: the playground where Alvaro Medina and Lose Endz both cut their teeth at different eras over the last 10 years. Having remixed each other last year on Djebali, here we find them linking up for a smoking first collab, which is also their Robsoul debut. The results spark up for themselves…
‘I Like The Competition’ eases us in with a bottomless bulging bassline, sassy jacks, jazzy chords and a cool spoken word. It’s backed by the equally forthright and bumping ‘The Get Down’. Stripped back to naked drums and a hip-twisting bassline, the moment those mischievous keys and pimping vocal lick come in the full flavour is overwhelming.
Finally we hit the grooviest high of the EP with ‘Funky Kush’. Sweet, dreamy and a full physical sensation; just like its namesake, it’s the perfect tonic to a turbulent year. Light up.
