VIDEO: Phil Weeks – All Day Every Day

RB90 label side A‘All Day Every Day’ is the first single to be taken from Phil Weeks’ forthcoming second album, scheduled for release in February 2011.  The single is typical of the style crafted by the Robsoul boss over his 10 year career – a relentlessly funky and hypnotic groove paving the way for Weeks’ now trademark stoned-sounding spoken word, delivered in English with a heavy French accent.  His Original Mix is complemented by the raw Ghetto Mix, along with acapella and instrumental versions. ‘All Day Every Day’, and the full album, has been crafted on no more than an MPC3000 sampler with beats, samples and Phil’s own vocals manipulated expertly into house rockers.

Speaking of the single and album concept Phil Weeks explains, “It’s all about sampling, cutting, tweaking the samples in pieces and doing a puzzle.  Like they do in Hip Hop – producers like Jay Dilla, DJ Premier and 9th Wonder.  I was inspired a lot by this.  The MPC3000 has a special groove and a sound that I love and I’m trying to do that with House music for this project.”
