Lebedev returns to Phil Weeks’ ever-trusted Robsoul imprint with another collection of razor-sharp house grooves on his ‘Crazy Sample’ EP.
Opener Crazy Sample sports grainy, analogue qualities – dusty, deep and raw house drums and a swollen, bassline that works beautifully with the vocal samples to create a mellow but funky groove.
Little Beat locks us in from the first beat. Claps, open hats, resonating kick drums and 808 percussive flairs compliment this crackling, lo-fi house jam.
Finally, Jazzy Smooth does what it says on the tin – a rolling and bumping house groove underpinned by thumping kick drums, hook-laden jazz-sax samples and some legend-Louis vocal chops, resulting in a shimmying, feel good bump-a-thon.
