Sydney’s Steve Robinson returns to Robsoul, following his 2021 ‘Bug Jazz’ Ep, with a trio of instructive new jams on his ‘Come On Get Up’ EP.
The title track opens with the funk-fuelled title track. Finessing the filters, slapping the bass and spreading some uplifting vocal hooks, ‘Come On Get Up’ has already strutting towards the dancefloor. On the Dub, Steve oscillates the vocals and boosts them with a reinforced, syrupy bassline and weighted kicks.
Robinson flips on the flip, now demanding we ‘Sit Down’, as he drops a pulsing techy beat in our laps. Chopped and screwed vocals and plump, grinding bass that is crying out for a rooftop sunshine session. Rounding things out, ‘You Gonna’ goes deep with its bugging drums and running keys to smooth out another sweet Robsoul session.
So, only decision now is, are you gonna sit down or get up.
